| Leland R. Speed, who is currently serving as the Executive Director of the Mississippi Development Authority, has been Chairman of EastGroup since 1983 and served as Chief Executive Officer through September 1997. Mr. Speed also serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Parkway Properties, Inc., and as the Chairman of Delta Industries, Inc. Prior to assuming these duties, Mr. Speed was in the general securities and real estate development business. He received his M.B.A from Harvard Business School and his B.S. in Industrial Management from Georgia Institute of Technology. |
